In a café recently I noticed a young pregnant woman sitting at a nearby table. And she was Juicy.Yup. Capital J for Juicy. She had her second-trimester glow on; her skin was luminous, her eyes bright, and the sensuous curve of her breasts and belly reminded me of the satiating fullness of my own pregnancies. I remembered the deep satisfaction of feeling the tides of my body ebbing and flowing beneath my skin.

But here’s the deal, Lucille. Feeling juicy isn’t limited to a time when we’re young or pregnant. It’s heightened during these stages of our lives, for sure. But know this: there’s a sweet river of nectar running through our veins every moment we draw breath. And it’s a glorious river – sunlit, welcoming, warm, dynamic, playful, sensuous, strong, and deep. We see and sense this river sometimes in others when we’re drawn to the way they look, or their particular energy, or the way they seem to be so undeniably comfortable in their own skin. Whatever they’ve got, we want some of it.

So how do we live a juicier life?

We eat real food that our gut can process so that nourishment reaches our deepest tissues. We move our bodies and get lymph and endorphins and hormones circulating in the right quantities in the right direction. We get outside in nature and re-green our feelings of appreciation and gratitude. We give generously, without expecting anything in return. We open ourselves up to warmly receiving. We make experiencing joy and satisfaction a daily priority. We consciously honour and celebrate our gorgeous, fabulous, authentic, blessed selves.

I met with three precious girlfriends recently and we settled in a bar and ordered divine cocktails served in beautiful glassware. And as we relaxed, our conversation got juicier and juicier – words and laughter landing all over the table as we shared stories and whisky and wisdom along with an exquisite bowl of crème brûlée. We stayed until we were filled up with feminine deliciousness and felt utterly satisfied. Juiced up. Succulent.

The English language doesn’t seem to have a word that perfectly captures this feeling, this sensation, this glorious manifestation of female juiciness. So, let’s flow with the Sanskrit rasa. Say it out loud. Rasa! It even sounds juicy!

Rasayana means The Path of Juice. Come walk it with me.

Tat tvam asi. You are That.
